Abstract |
The Department for Education and Skills {(DfES)} commissioned {PricewaterhouseCoopers} {LLP} {(PwC)} in April 2006 to undertake an independent research study on school leadership. School leadership in England and Wales is generally of high quality and has been improving consistently since the mid-1990s; and it is second only to classroom teaching as an influence on pupil learning {(Leithwood} et al., 2006). In this context, the main aims of the study were to provide a comprehensive and independent account of existing, emerging and potential models of school headship and the wider leadership team that are effective in raising standards for all pupils.
