The first chapter of this report started out with a conceptualization of learning as a partly autonomous process determined by the learner.
The second chapter provided a brief overview of the history of research on teaching effectiveness.
In Chapter 3 the research literature on school effectiveness was summarized.
In Chapter 4 results of two sets of meta-analysis were presented, meta-analyses on school level factors and meta-analyses on teaching factors.
Chapter 5 is dedicated to the issue of estimating estimates of school effects in the sense of the difference between a period of schooling and no schooling during that period.
